“Carolyn Kaye Rodeck died on Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Jefferson Healthcare Hospital in Port Townsend, of complications of pneumonia. She was 69. Carolyn was born on Nov 7, 1929, to William Justin and Elva (Sweat) Vail in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and was raised in Western Washington. After graduating from night school, she spent two years in college studying accounting, and then worked as an accountant and CPA in both Wenatchee and Yakima. On April 23, 1971, she married Jacob ‘Jack’ F Rodeck on Bainbridge Island. After the couple moved to Port Townsend, Carolyn took part in the Chimacum ward of the church of Latter-day Saints. Surviving are her husband, Jacob, at their Port Townsend home, and brother Rex Vail of Rochester, NY. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd and Norman Vail. A chapel service was held on Saturday, July 25, followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in Chimacum.” (Odessa Record: 7-30-2009)
