Throughout the Bristish Islands in the early 1700's, the Scots, as well as the Presbyterians were weary and discouraged by the restrictions placed on them by the Crown and the Church of England. They began to look around for a new and better home where they could enjoy more freedom of religion. In 1727, the patriarch, James Carruth, of Ballymartin Parish, Antrim, Ireland, died. His sons Walter and Adam sailed to America on the ship, Diligence of Glasgow, in January of 1729. They they first arrived in the new country, the earlier colonists refered to them as Irish, which they strongly resented, insisting rather that they were Scots. Later, they were considered Scottish-Irish or Scotch-Irish.

Sarah ALLISON was born in 1711 in Pennsylvania. She died on 1 May 1768 in Iredell, Rowan County, North Carolina. She was buried in Coddle Creek Cemetery, Coddle Creek, Rowan County, North Carolina. She married Walter CARRUTH in 1727 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

William and Ifamy moved to Mooresville Indiana ca 1843. They moved to Greenup, Illinois ca 1855

I have found records showing several names for the wife of William Alson, namely: Issabe, Ifamy, Ifama, and I, Pheobe. If I read the copy of the marriage license as it is written, her first name could be Elizabeth, yet, years ago the old handwriting made the double ss (Such as in Miss) written like a p. so the Eliz could be Miss. Per the copy of the marriage license, William Haegey and Leonard Phillipy/Phillipe signed the bond. Leonard Phillipie married Margaret Coble 21 Feb 1805. I wonder if perhaps Issahabe could have been born Phillipy? There is reason, no documentation, that Issahabewas married to a Peter Coble. and David before marring William Alson. the census listed David as a Hagy, but then as a young man he was known as Coble. There is a question if Isshabe was the daughter of Leonard and Maragaret.

A letter from Ellen written to the great-grandfather of John M. Nees asks for verification of information for pension purposes and needed affidavits of their marriage. At the time of the letter in 1897, they lived in Denver, Colorado. (Civil War Pension request was fifled in state of Colorado).
Also a letter in the possession of John M. Nees, dated Oct 1872, coming from Rosea (Roscoe), St Clair, Missouri which shares boundry line with Vernon, Missouri and both are next to the state of Kansas.
From records: "Jeremiah Hagey of Greenup, Cumberland, Illinois, dated 4 Feb 1867, appointed Daniel Monroe Neese in the vicinity of Shaw's Mills Post Office, Guilford, North Carolina, attorney, to sell or lease his land in the same neighborhood lying on the south side of John Sooth's lot containing 22 acres." Per Texas Land Title Abstracts, Jeremiah "Jeery" was grantee and pantentee on 80 acres in Milam, Robertson, Bexas District, Parker, Texas in 1 Sep 1883.
Jeremiah served in the Union Army in the Civil War, in Company F of the 59 Illinois Infantry. He was inducted as a private and discharged as a sergeant.
Simon Riley Hagee stated in his journal that he thought Jeremiah had all girls, but the 1880 Federal Census of Tarrant, Texas show a son. Perhaps HH died as a very young child and that is why Simeon thought he had only girls. And yet I find a Harry Howard Hagey, who married a Sarah Frances Graham on 28 Jun 1900 in Warren, Illinois and his father was in Illinois.
