C. W. BRYSON OF OVILLA DIES

Charles Wilburn Bryson, 57, farmer of Ovilla community, near Midlothian, Ellis County, died Friday in a Dallas hospital after an illness of several weeks.
He was the third generation of his family to serve as an elder of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church of Ovilla. He had been a resident of the Ovilla community all his life, and was active in farmers' organizations there.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Iven Hamric of Red Oak, Ellis County, and Mrs. James Draper and Miss Helen Bryson of Dallas, and three sons, Raymond Bryson of Enid, Oklahoma; W. E. Bryson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Fred Bryson of Dallas.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Presbyterian Church of Ovilla.

RITES ARRANGED FOR MRS. BRYSON

Mrs. Mollie Lee Bryson, 60, who lived most of her life near Ovilla, Ellis County, died in her home at 1231 South Ewing early Saturday.
She was born near Cedar Hill Feb. 26, 1893, and moved to Dallas from Ovilla about six years ago.
Services will be held in the Shiloh Presbyterian Church, near Waxahachie, at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Paul F. Brown of Oklahoma Cty officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery.
Mrs. Bryson's husband was the late C. W. Bryson. She is survived by three sons, R. F. Bryson, and Fred W. Bryson, both of Dallas, and W. E. Bryson of Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. J. C. Hameric, Midlothian, Ellis County; Mrs. James S. Draper of Gastonian, N. C., and Mrs. Leslie W. Schiller of Dallas, and nine grandchildren.
Mrs. Bryson is also survived by a brother, Archie Wylie of Richardson, and four sisters, Mrs. Mattie Clements of Kenedy, Karnes County, Mrs. Emma Ogle and Mrs. Jennie Prince, both of Dallas, and Mrs. Roy Edwards of Oklahoma City.

EX-SHERIFF AT SAN ANGELO, J. F. (BUCK) BRYSON, DIES

SAN ANGELO, Texas, Feb. 10 -- Funeral services for J. F. (Buck) Bryson, 65, sheriff here from 1945 to 1955, and a past president of the Texas Sheriff's Association, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church, U. S.
Burial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Shiloh Church Cemetery near Ovilla in Ellis County.
Bryson died early today in a local hospital from injuries received when he was hit by a car here last July 3. He had been unconscious since the mishap.
Born in Waxahatchie, he farmed near Ovilla until 1921, when he and his wife, the former Meda Rockett, came to San Angelo. A member of the Waxahachie Fire Department for six years, he became associated with the San Angelo Fire Department shortly after his arrival.
In 1928, he became a member of the San Angelo Police Department, and served until 1937, when he became a deputy sheriff.
Eight years later, he was elected sheriff.
He was elected president of the Texas Sheriff's Association in 1952, was a former vice-president of the same group, state director of the National Sheriff's Association, a member of Gov. Allan Shivers' Traffic Safety Committee and an assistant district provost marshal in the Texas State Guard Reserve with the rank of major.
He also was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Order of Odd Fellows, and San Angelo Lions Club. He was probably one of the most popular sheriffs who ever held the position in this county. He stated it was more important to prevent crime than to punish offenders.
After retiring as sheriff, he became associated with San Angelo Marble and Granite Works and for a time owned a service station.
An avid baseball and football fan and prominent in First Presbyterian Church activities, he took special pride in his friendship with Paul Richards, current field and general manager of the Baltimore Orioles and a fellow citizen of Waxahachie.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William D. Bryson of Amarillo; two daughters, Mrs. A. M. Lutlow of Waco and Mrs. James A. Bennett of Lubbock; two brothers, Dr. D. O. Bryson of San Francisco, Calif., and T. L. Bryson of Midlothian; a sister, Mrs. Paul Springer of Midlothian and five grandchildren.

Meda M. ROCKETT [scrapbook] was born on 24 Aug 1894 in Texas. She died on 29 Aug 1978 in Lubbock County, Texas. She was buried in Shiloh Cemetery, Ovilla, Ellis County, Texas. She married Joseph Franklin BRYSON.

TRUMAN L. BRYSON

Truman L. Bryson, 58, of Midlothian, a former Dallas resident, died in a Waxahachie hospital Tuesday after a long illness.
A native of Ellis County, he had lived in Dallas from 1932 to 1943, maintaining a farm in the Lisbon area. Since 1943 he had operated a farm and poultry ranch near Midlothian.
Bryson was an elder in the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Midlothian.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Perry Bryson of Midlothian; a daughter, Mrs. Bill Beckum of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. R. P. Springer of Midlothian; a brother, Dr. Davis Bryson of San Francisco, Calif., and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Shiloh Presbyterian with the Rev. A. H. Bates, the Rev. G. L. Waddle and the Rev. Fred Bryson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Dr. Charles D. BRYSON [Parents] [scrapbook] was born on 11 May 1875 in Ovilla, Ellis County, Texas. He died on 31 May 1939 in Lancaster, Dallas County, Texas. He was buried in Plot C3-21, Shiloh Cemetery, Ovilla, Ellis County, Texas. He married Nellie C. CURRY about 1898.

On the 1900 Census, he was a farmer in Ellis County, Texas. By the 1920 Census, he was a general practice veterinary surgeon, living in Lancaster City, Dallas County, Texas. In the 1930 Census, he was a veterinary doctor living in Lancaster City, Dallas County, Texas.

LANCASTER MAN IS FOUND DEAD

Special to THE NEWS.
LANCASTER, Texas, May 31--Dr. C. D. Bryson, 64, resident of Lancaster for the last thirty years, was found dead at his home Wednesday by Foster Smith, H. O. Smith and the Rev. C. O. Hitt.
Dr. Bryson, a veterinarian, was born in Orvilla, Ellis County. He is survived by three sons, Leonard Bryson of Dallas, Henry Bryson of Wichita Falls and Charles Bryson of Greenville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Lancaster Methodist Church, with interment in Shiloh Cemetery, near Ovilla.
