Collin Cole CHAMBERS [Parents] [scrapbook] "Babe" was born 1 on 17 Apr 1888 in Bryson, Jack County, Texas. He died 2, 3, 4 on 2 Mar 1976 in Jack County Hospital, Jacksboro, Texas. The cause of death was pneumonia. He was buried 5 on 6 Mar 1976 in Lovington Cemetery, Lovington, New Mexico. He married 6 Jimmie Eskel SANDERS on 18 Nov 1960 in Lovington, Lea County, New Mexico.

Collin Cole was known to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Grandad, and to his nieces and nephews as Uncle Babe.

C.C. Chambers moved to Lovington in 1925, where he worked on the Mary Stansell Ranch. In 1929 he purchased a dairy herd from Bob Dean and engaged in dairy farming most of the rest of his life. His registered livestock brand was SOT, a brand started by his father, Jasper Newton Chambers. His son, Jasper A. Chambers, later continued the use of the brand on his ranch in Klickitat County, Washington, 12 miles northeast of Goldendale. It is unknown what the letters stood for.

C. C. Chambers resided at the Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in Jacksboro, Texas, where he moved to be near his wife, Jimmie (Henderson) Chambers, who was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. He contracted pneumonia, which eventually took his life. He told his daughter, Dona Lessie (Chambers) Stone that he had not originally intended on residing for very long at the home, and when he got ill with pneumonia, he quipped, "I came to STAY a week and I GOT weak." At the time of his death, he had 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers at his funeral were Billy Dale Dye, Dudley Murph, Walter "Hoppy" Hopkins, George Bradshaw, Frank Parson, and Zip Franklin.

"BABE" CHAMBERS HONORED AT PARTY

C. C. "Babe" Chambers was guest of honor Sunday at a family reunion for Chambers' children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren. Thirty-five members of the family gathered at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Walter Hopkins for an Ice cream supper. All of Mr. Chambers' children were present.
They are: Jasper Chambers and Lessie Stone of Goldendale, Washington; Christine Campbell of Carlsbad, Collin Chambers of Jacksboro, Texas, and Kenneth E. Chambers of Lovington. Many of the grand-children were on hand to extend congratulations on Chambers' recent elghty-secondbirth-
day.
Lovington residents are: Mrs. Walter Hopkins, Mrs. Dudley Murph, and Mrs. Bill Dye. Grandchildren from out of town are: Dick Campbell of Odessa; Jasper Chambers, Jr. of Goldendale; Frelda Stone of San Francisco; Mrs, Morris Pruitt of Lubbock; and Mrs, Joe Harris of Jacksboro.
Chambers is among the members of the Lovington ranch community. He and his wife, Jlmmie,
reside outside Lovington on the Artesia Highway.
